Still Cleaning up 4 months after Hurricane Ike

I went to visit my grandparents this week. They live close to Galveston, Texas were hurricane Ike hit. I hadn't seen the devastation in person yet, so we rode down to the beach to look. They have cleaned up some, but there is still so much work to do. In one town almost all of the houses are completely gone, only the poles were the houses were on stilts are left. The water got about 26 ft. high over the roads. So many people are still without homes and living in tents. We don't have the coldest weather here, but we did have snow one time this past December. We have off and on cold then hot weather. The saying here in Southeast Texas is, "If you don't like the weather here, just wait, it will change in a minute." , so I know some of their nights get really cold!! Alot of the people who live by the beach can't afford house insurance, it is extremely high, and if you are on a fixed income, you might have to choose between eating and insurance. I'm not someone trying to collect money for them anything, but if you fill moved in your heart to give please do. I know there is a great need for it. You can check out different web sites out there if you would like to give , but, please pray for all of them. Here are some of the pictures I took while I was down there. Thanks for reading and God bless!

This is the only house left on the beach side of this town!

This is the poles left from a house that was swept away by water!

I'm sure these used to be pretty palm trees!

All this used to be sand on the beach, now it's a lake!
