Calendar of Seasons

I have been looking for an idea for a small desk calendar since December. I finally found one I liked over at PaperSmiles . If you read my blog, you know that my name is Winter,(yes that is my real first name). I have a sister named Somer, my daughter's name is Autumn, and my sister Somer's daughter is named Gracelynn Spring. So I decided to do these calendars with names of the season's and pictures of each person with that name on it. Instead of the correct spelling of the season Summer, I put the spelling of my sister's name Somer. My sister Somer has been following my blog, so Somer I hope you like this one, I'm sending it to you. Love you!
I hope everyone else likes it too!

Valentine Button Card

I found this idea over at KWerner's blog. I just had to try it. I actually made it a couple of weeks ago, I figured it was getting close to (Love) Day, and it makes a great Valentines Day card. I Love all of the buttons! I had a jar of buttons that I bought years ago, I finally used some of them. I am trying to use some of my stash of supplies, and scraps of paper, that I have collected over the years. I don't like throwing any paper away! I try to be frugal and try to stretch my dollar as far as possible. I guess you have to be when this is a hobby and you're not getting paid for it. I love doing it though!!
Recipe:
Paper: Craft card stock
Ink: Zig- red pen
Accessories: Lots of buttons!

Another His Holy Name Scripture Challenge '09

I did another His Holy Name Scripture Challenge. I had so much fun looking up the scriptures, it was hard to just choose one. This one is a little late, but there is really not a time limit. This one is the name Holy. Hope you like it. (I had to re post this, I deleted the first one - oops!)

Recipe:
Paper: My Mind's Eye & white card stock
Stamps: Pebbles foam stamps- Macavilli
Ink: VersaColor- white, SU!- old olive

I've Been Tagged!

I've been tagged by Brandi over at Yankee Belle Stamper. I have to tag 6 more people and try to get to know them better. You have to go to your "my pictures" on your computer and find the 6th folder and and get the 6th picture, then choose 6 more people to pass it on to.
So this is my picture. It is my daughter Autumn. She is 10 years old, and she has been playing softball since she was 6. She started pitching this past season in the fast pitch league. This was her first game to pitch in. She did a great job!

These are the blogs I choose to pass it on to.

Fiona at Fab Creations.

Karen at Karen's Escape.

Kara at Kandredesigns.

Tenia at Jazzy Paper Designs.

Nellie at This Little Blog Of Mine.

Ashley at Cherry Hill Designs.

I hope you enjoy!

First His Holy Name '09 Challenge

I found another challenge to join in on. It is called His Holy Name, there is also another one called Scripture Challenge. They were started by a woman named Patter, she does a great job! It is so nice to do challenges that get me reading God's word even more. I'm a little late on getting started, but I'll catch up. I did a 6X6 page this time and plan to do a 6X6 every time, so I can put it in an album. The word for the challenge this week is Sovereign, so my scripture is Psalms 40:5. God gives us so many blessings that we can't even number! Thank You Lord! I hope you can try and join in on this challenge too! Have a blessed night!

Family Night

We surprised our kids with tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters this past Friday night. For those of you who don't know who the Harlem Globetrotters are, they are a basketball team who are entertainers. They do all kinds of tricks, slam dunks, and lots of humor!! We had a great time. The TV news was there taking video, and they started filming in our direction, so I told my kids we needed to watch the news that night. We watched it when we got home, and sure enough one of the only shots of the fans was US! It was pretty neat! My mom was staying a few days, so she came with us too. She just lost her husband (my step-dad) about 3 months ago, so she has been spending a lot of time with all of her kids. We enjoy her being with us. So here are a few pictures to share, my son refused to take a picture, (he gets tired of me taking his picture), so he is not in any of them!

Slam Dunk!

Still Cleaning up 4 months after Hurricane Ike

I went to visit my grandparents this week. They live close to Galveston, Texas were hurricane Ike hit. I hadn't seen the devastation in person yet, so we rode down to the beach to look. They have cleaned up some, but there is still so much work to do. In one town almost all of the houses are completely gone, only the poles were the houses were on stilts are left. The water got about 26 ft. high over the roads. So many people are still without homes and living in tents. We don't have the coldest weather here, but we did have snow one time this past December. We have off and on cold then hot weather. The saying here in Southeast Texas is, "If you don't like the weather here, just wait, it will change in a minute." , so I know some of their nights get really cold!! Alot of the people who live by the beach can't afford house insurance, it is extremely high, and if you are on a fixed income, you might have to choose between eating and insurance. I'm not someone trying to collect money for them anything, but if you fill moved in your heart to give please do. I know there is a great need for it. You can check out different web sites out there if you would like to give , but, please pray for all of them. Here are some of the pictures I took while I was down there. Thanks for reading and God bless!

This is the only house left on the beach side of this town!

This is the poles left from a house that was swept away by water!

I'm sure these used to be pretty palm trees!

All this used to be sand on the beach, now it's a lake!

KwerenerColor Challenge

I made a card for this weeks color challenge at KWerner. Not colors I would normally use, but I think it turned out cute. This idea was going through my head when I went to bed last night, and I couldn't wait to get up and try it. I don't know about you, but I love sour worms. I thought putting them in a bag would remind you of the ones from the store. Then the inside of the card, has a sugary sweet one! I have had this stamp for awhile, and have only used it a couple of times. Hope you like it.

Recipe:
Paper: Stampin' Up! & white card stock
Stamps: Stampin' Up!- Bugs & Kisses
Ink: Versa Mark-watermark stamp pad
Accessories: Embossing powder from
Hobby Lobby, Martha Stewart- glitter,
small resealable bag from Wal-Mart,

Divine Design Challenge

This is my first Divine Design Challenge. It is a challenge to try and help you with memorizing scriptures. I love this kind of challenge because I am a child of the Living God and I am also a pastors wife, so reading God's word is something I do every day. I love to see other people love God too! It is a challenge every month on the 9th, but there is no time limit. You can submit it anytime. It's a lot of fun! This is a scripture I love, and is very encouraging when you have children and how important it is to teach them about God.
I am going to use this as a new baby card. I hope you like it.

Paper: Kaleidoscope & white card stock

Birthday Blessings Card

I bought these little hearts from Wal-Mart over the weekend and I wanted to make a card and use them. I decided to make a birthday card, don't know anyone having a b-day right now, but I like to store them for when I do need one. I don't like to buy my cards from the store, and sometimes I'm to busy to make one. So it helps to make them early. I made this card yesterday, but lost day light to take pictures. Does anyone have any suggestions on taking better pictures if you don't have good lighting? So here's my card. I'll be back later with a couple more cards.
Have a blessed day!

Recipe:
Paper-Kaleidoscope & white card stock
Accessories- Sentiment cut from Cricket,

Locker Calendar

My Daughter needed a calendar for her locker at school. I made her one that measures 6X6. I made it so she could put a small picture in it. I didn't put pictures in all of them yet, she can add more throughout the year. On the month of January, it is a picture of My daughter Autumn (on the right) and her friend from church (on the left). When she is done with it and if it isn't torn up, I can take it apart and take off the month, let her journal on it and make her a 6X6 album for her to keep. I wanted to take more pictures, but I lost sunlight and I don't have very good lighting inside. Maybe more tomorrow.
Hope you like it, Autumn sure does!
Have a blessed evening!
Recipe:
Paper: Kaleidoscope & scraps I had
Stamps: Autumn Leaves- Hand drawn alphabet (love this stamp), small number stamp from a Dollar Store (I bought years ago)
Ink: Stampin' Up!- basic brown & pixie pink
Accessories: Satin & grosgrain ribbon in assorted colors, Brown pen, binder rings

Questions

I am trying to figure this blog thing out. I have a question to anyone who can help me. I need help on when I put in a link how do I put it in to just have the name and not the http: address? I know that sounds silly not to know, but I am new to this. So anyone that can help, Please let me know. I am in the process of putting a new back ground in, I think it is a little distracting, so I might need to change it later. Well gotta go, I have to go get supplies for my sons school project. First Color Challenge

I have wanted to start this blog for a long time now, but I really didn't know how to start. My daughter has been encouraging me for a while now to start one, so today I decided to figure it out on my own, and so far so good. I'm still learning how everything works. Anyway I wanted to start this blog to show my creations with other people. I have been scrapbooking for about 10 years, but more in the past 5 years. It has gotten alot easier to scrap when your kids don't require alot of feeding and diaper changes. lol! I enjoy making scrapbooks, cards, and other crafts for family and friends, which means I neglect my scrapbooks. I have alot of pictures to scrap! So I hope having this blog will encourage me to get more of my pages done to. I have been watching the color challenge over at Kwerner for awhile now and decided today to play, so here is my simple little card.
