Hey everybody! Well I need some input! I watched Courtney's videos about different inks, and I started thinking about all my different inks! I LOVE ColorBox chalk inks, and I own quite a few of those. But I am about to make a big order of PTI cardstock, (because I believe it is the best cardstock-EVER and I need some of their new colors!), and I started looking at the PTI Palette Hybrid ink to match all the cardstock I am ordering. But I have bought a couple of the cubes a couple of months back to try them out and I wasn't really impressed! It could be that the cubes are different than the pads, but I thought they just stamped weird! So if there is anyone who has experienced the PTI cubes and the pads and maybe they stamp different, please let me know! And what kind of ink do you think is the best? Thanks in advance for all of the help!
Have a Blessed night! :)
Hi Wynter! I prefer the PTI pigment inks over the other. I only have there pigment but used the other at a friends place who has them all. I hope this helps!
ReplyDeletei have found that pti's ink cubes are horrible! however their new hybrid pigment perfect match ink pads are wonderful! right now, they are supposed to be giving you a free ink refill with each pad because some of the pads seemed kind of dry when you get them. and they had a lot of complaints. i read this in their forum just last week. i wouldnt get the perfect match ink pads that are not the pigment ink because they dont seem to match very well and they are like the ink cubes. that is just my experience with them. but i continue to buy the hybrid pigment inks because i think they are great!
ReplyDeleteI love ColorBox chalk inks the best Winter. It's been hit or miss with the PTI for me. I was upset that a lot of the ink pads I ordered from them came in dry. It's nice that they are sending refills now, but it doesn't help me unless I order new ones. :o( The ones that were "juicy" stamped well though. The dye ink pads - I like SU!'s better, and I already have a ton from when I was a demonstrator. And a lot of their colors match perfectly with PTI cardstock. In fact some of the SU dye ink pads match better than the PTI dye inks. Go figure. So if I had my choice...ColorBox chalk or pigment, then PTI. SU all the way for dye.
ReplyDeleteI love PTI products but have had mixed results with their inks. I like the concept of matching paper with inks. I especially have issue with stamps with lots of negative space. I have some colorbox that I like alot. I continue to search for inks so I'm happy to see this post and will follow the comments to gain wisdom.
ReplyDeletePTI's dye inks were great EXCEPT for the lighter colors (i.e. sweet blush, spring rain, etc). The regular bright and darker shades are still great as long as they are the dye inks. I don't care for the new pigment inks...pads are almost always dry and the coverage isn't the best. I do own all of them though I almost never use the new pigment ones, and always reach for the older dye ones (unless it's a lighter color).
ReplyDeleteMy favorite inks have always been Palette hybrid inks and hero arts pigment inks. The best black in the world (IMHO) is Ranger Archival!
Let me know what you find out! I'm not a big fan of the PTI inks. They seem to go dry really fast. Just my opinion. There cardstock is great, but I've been trying Gina K's as well lately and it's so nice and thick!
ReplyDeleteI own mostly Stampin' Up Classic Ink pads, although I haven't picked up any from the Color Renovation collection. I love the way these inks work with Hero Arts cling stamps and wood block stamps, but for other brands such as Inkadinkadoo, color box chalk inks work better. I never bought any PTI inks because I just read bad reviews! I think it just depends what stamps or paper you use, especially for me, cuz I don't use all the same brand! BTW, love the new site photo! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Winter! I know it's crucial to hear about different kinds of ink from others, since one cannot try them "on" before buying.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I found out, after using them for a year: the PTI cubes work best for stamps that are only outlines. The pads work best for the "filled" stamps that, the ones with a larger area to be covered by the ink.
I must agree with the ladies before me, the hybrid pigment ones are great!
I'll keep an eye out myself for reviews on different inks.
In the same boat as you. Not much luck with the cubes. I own nearly all of SU! dye inks, but with the new changes SU! is making, I am looking at other possibilities for inks. I'm a total nut when it comes to "matching", so when I find the right fit for me, the change will be across the board. Can't wait to see what others say as I though I'd go the PTI route....
ReplyDeleteblessings!

I have mixed feelings on the PTI new inks...I have seen Nicole's messsage about them trying to fix the problem, but now I have to wait to order reinkers....something I would not have had to do if they were made properly the first time. Anyways, I do love the old PTI inks in the dark colours...that's why I was excited they were changing the lighter ones to the new formula...I find that Versafine covers completely and easily...I use onyx quite often...they just don't have the range of colours I want....I don't know if there's any one answer!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is a good subject.
ReplyDeleteI have just a few of PTI inks: some cubes and a Pad. Maybe my cubes are just new and juice.
I'm just in love with the Versa Magic. But I#m so new in this field that I'm still learning. So, I'll follow these comments to learn more.
Winter,
ReplyDeleteGreat topic for conversation. I have only had problems with my lighter PTI cubes. I only have cubes and have not had any issues with the dark colours. I am in total agreement with you the colorbox chalks are great. I have used them for 10 years since they were brand new and nothing beats them for coverage on neg space.
I also like Tim HOltz inks they are great, but they are limited in colours.
I am planning on waiting for the whole PTI ink mess to clear up before I buy the new hybrid.
For now I am sticking to my colorbox chalks, and cubes in PTI as they are not a huge investment to have matching colours.

Hey girl... I have all of the PTI colors... some of them are better than others. I think the issue is probably mainly the cubes. I do like the other ink pads that they sell... those have become some of my favs. The pallette ink pads... like them a lot. And i totally agree about the PTI cardstock... the best by far (from what I have seen anyway) and a better deal. Bought some from Clear and Simple once and it is good paper but wayyyyyyy too pricey!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, Winter, I do not know if I can add anything new to the ink discussion, but I won't be buying anymore PTI inks. I have been disappointed in them all in one way or another. (New formula, old formula, pads and cubes). For colored inks, I am really liking the chalk inks, and I have to say that I still like Stampin' Up! for their ink pads. (I've found that a lot of the SU! colors are close enough to coordinate with PTI, and I have gone that route since I've been disappointed with the PTI). I'm all for branching out though, and I would love to know if you find anything else.
